THEY WON!!! Thanks SO MUCH to everyone who helped make this happen!
Read BFP’s statement upon hearing the news of this major victory.
By now, I’m sure you’ve seen at least one of the YouTube viral videos showing beagles that have just been rescued from research labs, cowering and terrified to exit their crates – only to ultimately overcome fear and frolic in the grass with glee? Those videos were made by Beagle Freedom Project, and BFP is up for a MAJOR grant to continue those rescues and create thousands more happy endings for animals who are currently suffering through cruel and inhumane experiments in laboratories. And they need you to help them get it!
Microsoft has launched an initiative to help nonprofit organizations “Upgrade the World” by donating a total of $10 million to a select group of organizations. Beagle Freedom Project is in the running to receive a $500,000 grant as part of this initiative to help support their work and raise public awareness. Microsoft is leaving it up to the public to decide who will receive these funds – THIS IS WHERE YOU COME IN! The contest is extremely close, and BFP needs our votes.
There are many ways to vote. I’ll start with the “one mouse click a day.”

VOTE ON TWITTER:
To vote on Twitter, click the RT button (the two arrows below the photo that look like a square and turn green when you hover your mouse over them) in the graphic above to re-tweet the above tweet. That’s it. Two clicks. You’re done. You have voted for Beagle Freedom Project in the #UpgradeYourWorld initiative and helped them win a $500k grant to save thousands of animals from laboratory testing.
If you want to compose your own original tweet instead of retweeting, make sure your tweet includes, “I #vote for @beaglefreedom. #UpgradeYourWorld” Both hashtags along with the @beaglefreedom tag are mandatory for the vote to count. BONUS: if you post a photo of your furry, four-legged friend with your “I #vote for @beaglefreedom #UpgradeYourWorld” tweet, BFP will retweet it to their followers.
But, wait; there’s more! You can vote once a day on Twitter, Instagam, AND Facebook – three votes per day – for the next 7 days. (Voting ends August 23.)
Many celebrites (like Sia, below) are joining the campaign, and they are helping spread awareness (and garner votes). BFP needs to reach as many people as they can to win this contest, so don’t be shy if you want to tag a high-profile person and ask them to retweet or regram your vote.
Best tweet ever by #sia this morning! We love her! Regram this pic with the text included to help us win $500K! Or post your own pic with the text: I #vote for @beaglefreedom #UpgradeYourWorld. Your account must be public for the votes to count. And please tweet once a day thru the 23rd: I #vote for @beaglefreedom #UpgradeYourWorld.

If Instagram is your preferred app, click here to open the photo above and regram it. Just as with Twitter, you can also Instagram your own photo with the text: “I #vote for @beaglefreedom. #UpgradeYourWorld.” (Again, please don’t forget both hashtags.)
If Facebook is the way you want to go, click “comment” at the bottom of the graphic below to open the photo in Facebook. When the Facebook window opens, type the following as your comment: “I #vote for [tag the BFP Facebook page here by typing @beaglefr… until you can select the blue check verified page to tag]. #UpgradeYourWorld” The comment will ultimately read, “I #vote for Beagle Freedom Project #UpgradeYourWorld.”
(Both hashtags and the tag are mandatory for the vote to count on Facebook, too.)
The idea behind the Upgrade Your World initiative is to “celebrate people and organizations who do great things and make a difference every day!” Beagle Freedom Project definitely falls into that category. They are in second place right now, so let’s give them the push they need to get to the finish line.
